.
The objectives of the water project are to try and show the problems related to succumbing to bottled water as
a solution to drinking water.
Bottled or packaged water loads the environment and is also
an added cost. the simple water purifier that we promote shows that water can be easily cleaned by first dosing it
with chlorine and then using scrubbers to eliminate the odour and clarifiers to make it clear...

the water bearers
what it teaches
the project is a great teaching tool as it touches many aspects and fields of learning. It can teach:
1. Technology: How might water be purified safely at home?
2. Economics: Why does a litre of water cost Rs 10? Where does that money go?
3. Environmental: What does it cost in fuel to transport bottled water in trucks?
4. Waste-making: How does home purification reduce the litter of water bottles and plastic pouches?
5. Business: Why can't shops purify using machines like this and sell glasses of water cheap?
6. Imagination: Can I build a slightly bigger machine using this technology?
7. Science: How to test for water's purity in a simple way in my school?
8. Responsibility: How to care for and maintain the machine?
in the press
the project has ben presented to many: Sidharth an ex IIT Kharagpur volunteer,
Nawaid from the Asian Age, Divya from Channel &
On teachers day, it was even mentioned in the education supplement of the asian age
some excerpts:
Vicky Kumar, 12, is concerned about the water problem plaguing the capital.
A student of Class 5, Vicky exhorts everyone not to buy an MNC mineral water bottle.
If at all you have to buy it, go for the Himalaya or Catch water bottles, he tells you.
His logic: they are processed from natural water.
Demonstrating the functioning of a water purifier by Hindustan Lever Ltd, he says,
"It's cheap and does not use electricity. We do not have money to buy sophisticated appliances."
Vicky, who hails from Saharsa in Bihar, wants to become a scientist when he grows up.
"I would like to go back to my village and set up a water plant there,"
he says with a glint of optimism in his eyes. ..
