3. Is Project Why supported by the Indian government and the Corporate sector?
Project Why has no institutional or government support, and hence depends entirely on individuals and donations from well-wishers and supporters. Almost all the money received goes to the community we work with. You can meet some of our donors here
4.Why would I want to sponsor a child through Project why and not any other organization?
When you donate your money to a cause, you expect the money to go to the people who really need it, and you want to see a transparent process through which it is done.
Project Why is unique in that, to a degree, we rely on personal connections and relationships to maintain our stability. Our actions and activities are therefore very transparent, as there are so many committed people working together to keep things afloat.
The money that you contribute to Project Why goes totally towards the support of those who need it. Our admin costs are minimal, because we are helped by a dedicated batch of volunteers.
We have a very high success rate: no child in our organization has dropped out of school in the last 9 years, and all of our students passed their exams this year.
Apart from education, we also help children and their families get expensive medical help, and any other help that they may need, whenever they need it. No one is ever turned away from the doors of Project Why.
5. What is the sponsorship amount that I have to donate?
For the sponsorship amount, you have different options.
For
1 USD/1 Euro/ 1 Singaporean Dollar/ 1 Australian Dollar/50p/1 Malaysian Ringitt/10 Indian Rupees per day,
you can sponsor one of the following:
2 Kindergarten Children, or,
4 Primary or Middle School Children or,
1 Special Child.
Kindergarten students need a bigger amo unt in sponsorship because being younger, they require a smaller teacher to student ratio, and transportation to and from their homes as well.
Special children need the most amount of sponsorship because our students have a range of physical and mental disabilities. We work to meet each of their individual needs, which includes calling in specialists and expensive medical care. An occupational therapist visits the special section five times a week.

6. Why is the sponsorship contribution a unit currency of my country? Due to exchange rates, the actual sponsorship contributions are different for sponsors from different countries. Why?
The sponsorship contribution is based on the needs of the children Project why supports and an awareness of where the donations are coming from. In France, for instance, the sponsor will be remitted 20 out of the 30 Euros he or she donates per month.
We also ask for donation in the currency of your country to avoid confusion and maintain consistency. We do this to keep things as simple as possible so that our partner organizations in different countries do not have to monitor current exchange rates and currency fluctuations.
Your money will go to help the sponsorship of the children you will choose, and to meet day-to-day exigencies of those children who are in urgent need.
7. Can I commit to sponsoring only one schoolgoing child, and thus pay a lower amount in sponsorship?
Yes, this option is also available. Please contact Anouradha Bakshi at here or Caroline here for alternate suggestions. You can donate a smaller amount, provided it is consistent over a long period, thus ensuring the stability of Project Why, and of the precious futures it supports. Even a tiny yet consistent contribution can help save the future of a child.
8. What sort of a commitment are you looking at in terms of the duration of the sponsorship?
Ideally, we hope to find sponsors who can commit to donating on a long-term basis to ensure the financial stability of our education programs. This allows Project Why to work on shaping the futures of the children under its coverage. At a minimum, we do ask for a commitment for 1 academic year.
9. Can a group of people, or a family sponsor a child/children?
Yes, a group of people and/or a family can be sponsors. We do hope that all the sponsors together are able to meet the sponsorship commitment.
10. How does my sponsorship help a child?
Mainly, the sponsorship will help to cover expenses for educating the children. These include rent, staff salaries, supplies, transportation (if necessary), field trips or outings, and any other required cost.
Overall, your sponsorship helps Project Why survive. It helps over 800 children remain in school and have a fair chance of completing their schooling. It also ensures that primary kids do not drop out or run the risk of becoming child labor. Most importantly, it helps Project Why intervene in cases of crisis in the lives of the children.
11. How are children chosen for sponsorship?
We have the names of all the children who need sponsorship in a lot, and when a sponsorship comes along, we draw from this lot. So it is a fairly simple process.
12. Will I be the only one sponsoring my particular child/children?
You have the option of sponsoring the child/children partially, but we do recommend individual sponsorship. This makes it easier for administration purposes, and also helps in maintaining solid sponsorship for the children throughout the academic year.
13. Can I send gifts to my sponsored child/children? If yes, what kind of gifts?
We do not allow individual gifts as it is unfair to the other children. However, you are welcome to send gifts for the class (school supplies or other items needed in the classroom) or sponsor an outing or treat for the whole class.
14. What are the payment options available to me when I sponsor? Can I pay online?
Project Why does have a paypal option
